  • Winner of UVA Ideathon 2024

Local is designed to bridge the gap between event discovery and participation, fostering meaningful engagement, stronger social bonds, and economic growth for local businesses. What's The Move is an iOS app that aims to transform the way people connect and engage with their local community. It provides a platform for users to discover and create events that they can commit to immediately, sharing with their friends to join in with spontaneity.

Dev Notes

I'm working on this project with three others at my university, and we started the project in Flutter to release on both iOS and Android (although really it was because one of us didn't have a Mac and xcode environment)

August 25 - After a lengthy debate, we started a complete rebase to Swift in order to more accurately capture our vision of the app.

Business head of the team is currently in the process of getting funding through entrepreneurship lanes and capital groups, as of Aug 24. Don't know much about that

Roadmap

  • Implement event recommendations based on user preferences
  • Add in-app messaging for event attendees
  • Integrate with popular calendar apps
  • Develop an Android version of the app
